Brother Mathcounts
On Friday, I had to go to my brother's mathcounts, even though I was not participating. We had to drive all the way to Durham, so it took about 2 hours to get there. When we got there, we ate dinner at a Shanghai Restaurant. It was good, because most of the things there were deep-fried. We went into our hotel, watched TV and went to sleep. The next morning, we ate breakfast at the hotel. Then we went to NCSSM, where the Mathcounts was being held. There was were a lot of people there, students and parents. We waited for the Sprint Round to start, which was the first round of Mathcounts. There was announcements, and then the Sprint Round started. We waited for 40 minutes, which was the length of the Sprint Round. Then it was a break, and then the Target and Team round. Finally Terence came out, and we had lunch which was pizza and snacks. Finally, the Countdown Round which was being held at the same place. The Countdown Round is just for fun, and only the top 3 in chapter get to compete. Terence did not compete, because he only got 6th in chapter. We watched and tried to do some problems, some of which were pretty easy. Ben won the Countdown Round, and got a trophy. Then they announced the standings. When we heard that the person who won countdown was placed, and Terence didn't get placed, then there was no hope. But actually, he got in 4th place, which is just barely in for Nationals Mathcounts. We met with the coach for the nationals, and left the place.
